About CompactNest

Small-space setups deserve more than an afterthought.

Most home-office advice online assumes you have a spare room, a wide desk to fill, and a catalogue of American brands you can actually buy. CompactNest writes for the rest of us. People fitting a decent desk into an alcove, a chair into a bedroom corner, or a full setup into a studio flat without sacrificing posture, focus, or the ability to close the laptop at the end of the day.

How we review

Most "best of" lists are written against spec sheets. Ours aren't. We come at reviews with a background in UK furniture retail, so we know the questions people ask before buying. Whether a product fits through a narrow flat door, how long assembly takes without a garage, whether a 120 cm standing desk really suits a 180 cm alcove (often it doesn't).

We test with actual UK room and doorway dimensions rather than whatever "compact" marketing copy the manufacturer went with. We go back to reviews after a few months of living with a product and update them when our view changes. And we track prices, noting when something drops below, or creeps above, what we think it's worth.

Editorial independence

Editorial choices are independent of affiliate relationships. If a product disappoints, we say so. If we recommend it, it's because we'd buy it ourselves at its current price. Where we've received a product for review rather than bought it, we disclose that at the top of the piece.

You can read more about how the site is funded on our affiliate disclosure page, and how your data is handled in our privacy policy.
